NRA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS!

Who is the NRA?

We cannot over-state the importance of your membership into the National Rifle Association. You may have heard the term "I am the NRA!". That's because it's true! NRA is the most "grass-roots" organization that I can think of. It is an organization made up of MEMBERSHIP! There is no political party affiliation, no corporate ownership, no stock-ownership with stocks traded on Wall Street. The Board of Directors are elected by the members from the membership population. With approximately 4,000,000 members, 76 are elected as Board of Directors. You may remember that Charlton Heston was a BOD member that served as President of NRA from 1998 until 2003. You may also recognize the names, Tom Selleck, Karl Malone, Richard Childress, Dave Butz, Susan Howard, Ted Nugent, etc., but, these are just some of the more famous members of the BOD. Most of the BOD members are not so famous.

With, at least, a five year contiguous history or five year commitment to membership in the NRA, you too will have voting power to elect the Board of Directors.

Many have seen the "email alerts" from many different sources on the Internet, some true, some scams, some old, and some just mis-informed. You can count on NRA to "have done the homework!". Recently, we were asked to validate the Internet alert on Senate Bill SB-2099, a bill that proposed tax listing of your firearms each year to the IRS and House Resolution, HR-45, intended to implement a national licensing and registration scheme for personally owned firearms.

Check out the NRA-ILA Grassroots Up-to-the-Minute updates!

SB-2099 is moot at this point, it WAS at issue about 9 years ago. HR-45, however, is alive and well and does represent a threat to our rights. We say these answers with confidence because of NRA! ...here are the link(s) http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Federal/Read.aspx?id=5098 and http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FAQ/?s=101

You may note that the "links" are both from NRA's Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA). You can sign-up to receive the alerts on the NRA-ILA website https://secure.nraila.org/EmailSignup.aspx. The NRA-ILA is just one, and maybe the most important, of NRA's activities. The NRA Foundation grants benefit programs such as youth education, hunter education, conservation, firearms and marksmanship training and safety, and much more.

In Addition, NRA operations include Law Enforcement Training, The Whittington Center, the National Firearms Museum and many others.

NRA MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

In addition to all of the above, NRA members receive:

  • An official NRA Membership ID card - showing your Membership ID number and expiration date or Life Member status. You should carry this card with you at all times

  • Subscription to one of three award-winning magazines (American Hunter, American Rifleman, First Freedom)

  • Junior members receive a subscription to Insights

  • $1000.00 in ArmsCare® firearms insurance at NO COST to you. This plan covers insured firearms, air guns, bows and arrows against theft, accidental loss, and damage.

  • Annual members receive $5,000 of Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at NO COST to you. The plan covers accidents at, or to and from, an NRA event; and accidents that occur during the use of firearms or hunting equipment while hunting. Insurance must be activated at time of renewal. (Does not include Junior membership.)

  • Life members receive $10,000 of Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at NO COST to you. The plan covers accidents at, or to and from, an NRA event; and accidents that occur during the use of firearms or hunting equipment while hunting. Insurance must be activated at time of upgrade to Life member status

  • Law Enforcement Officers, that are NRA members, killed in the line of duty will have $25,000 in coverage.

For purposes of insurance, NRA members must be current active members of the NRA whose name appears on the NRA membership list.

But again......

  • The most important benefit of NRA membership, however, is the defense of your Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. NRA-ILA tracks the issues and alerts members about legislation involving firearms and hunting at the federal, state and local levels of government. Successful legislative action begins with you -- the individual member.
